Jayaraj’s admiration for music composers MS Viswanathan, AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, further pushed him towards working hard and finding himself in the league of great music composers. With time, the composer also experimented with a keyboard, developed an interest in synthesizers, started programming with his Roland MC-500 and more. At the age of 12, Jayaraj began his musical career as a guitarist. He went on to score top marks in Asia, in his 4th grade at the Trinity College of Music, London. His father wanted him to become a guitarist and sent him to train in classical guitar.

Right from the age of 6, when young Jayaraj began learning Carnatic music, he showed that he had a flair for his chosen profession. Harris Jayaraj has also been honoured with the Kalaimamani Award from the Government of Tamil Nadu, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the former Governor of Tamil Nadu, Konijeti Rosaiah. Thanks to his compelling take on music, he has won several accolades and is recognised as one of the best music composers the industry has to offer.
